What's new?

Admins can now grant Amplify Chat access to individual users directly in Amplify Admin in addition to the existing user type-based access control. A new Users for Amplify Chat picker lets you select specific users who should have access even if their user type isn't included in the User Types for Amplify Chat selection.

Why does it matter?

This gives admins more flexibility to manage Amplify Chat access at a granular level, without needing to change broader user type permissions. Teams with mixed access needs no longer require workarounds like reassigning user types, and access management stays centralized in Amplify Admin Settings.

How do I enable this?

This update is automatically available for all customers using Amplify Chat. To grant access to individual users:

1. Go to Amplify Admin > Settings

2. Under User Types for Amplify Chat, confirm the user types that should have access.

3. In the new Users for Amplify Chat picker, search for and select any individual users who need access regardless of their user type.

4. Save your changes.
